<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Thought of giving this post a Shit Happens title but decided to go with the above heading..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
2013 in January I had two friends P and T travel over to write some songs... by December I hoped that we'd have at least a couple of tunes worth recording in a studio. Didn't happen... instead of a studio, on the 27th of December 2013 I was in a station in Kolkata.. a police station with the same two friends - P and T. Arrested. Reason? 'Manhandling a taxi driver'... or in the words of the officer, "Taking the law into your own hands"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That morning, a crow had pooped on P's shoulder. I told him it's considered good luck..... Or was it bad luck? That night it just so happened that the <i>bada saab</i> of Park Street police station saw my friend <i>talking</i> to the taxi driver who'd refused to take us to our destination. The officer was in plain clothes, his ride was just behind the taxi that my friend P was having a chat with..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Never thought that the situation would escalate to the level that it did. T and I were just watching... initially amused at the scene unfolding before us..</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwdsy67_aiugEzK6rjaZs2E3ZqVC5zDxY_zJJp8bi_IkhJFjjsePATgaiYI7wloo-YX_GweRdHeo7UBPj9KkKSZ3DDNwlb0FWoHH6sjsT_k4Hx70jtMokXYU-0BPVuoL8hVanm8RadsH1F/s1600/taxi_driver_blind_dayze.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwdsy67_aiugEzK6rjaZs2E3ZqVC5zDxY_zJJp8bi_IkhJFjjsePATgaiYI7wloo-YX_GweRdHeo7UBPj9KkKSZ3DDNwlb0FWoHH6sjsT_k4Hx70jtMokXYU-0BPVuoL8hVanm8RadsH1F/s1600/taxi_driver_blind_dayze.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">( note: 'stock' photo - a Kolkata cab driver from my personal library. </span><span style="font-size: x-small;">The one on the night was 25 years old and looked a bit like the evil Vaas from Far Cry 3 )</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
For the record, voices were raised, shirt sleeves rolled up and collars pulled but no punches were thrown (yet) between P and the taxi driver... but the <i>bada saab</i> from Park Street police station was all charged up.. Afterall it was Park Street.. a crowd was gathering.. and he was there to ensure law and order prevailed.... "Do you know who I am?", he thundered as P tried to explain the situation...(un)lucky taxi driver was the fifth or sixth who'd refused to take us for a reasonable fare to our desired destination..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Or maybe it was good luck in the end...the crow shit bit. ..long story short, <i>bada saab</i> (OC of Park Street police station) called his people and we were all arrested....taxi driver included..taken to the station..our id's noted...questioned...given a speech.... and then released... of course... a little cash was involved.. demanded by one of the cops who was finally in charge of getting us to sign a paper... by then we were in no mood to protest...FIR? not tonight sir.. I've got a train to catch tomorrow...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPLHWh1V66ULpIZh6kTSroz9OXqd04OrJmVP3LuCT3CYw8waWJbUL_nSt7z0wzHcq6OKQY1x7IiF3x4R9bFTNPC_f2TCEAB_mHtG5gOiMhmAL4IipfPglWkdxC6YNpx8HeXhY7K3qINCjB/s1600/oly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPLHWh1V66ULpIZh6kTSroz9OXqd04OrJmVP3LuCT3CYw8waWJbUL_nSt7z0wzHcq6OKQY1x7IiF3x4R9bFTNPC_f2TCEAB_mHtG5gOiMhmAL4IipfPglWkdxC6YNpx8HeXhY7K3qINCjB/s1600/oly.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
<br />
On hindsight, wish I had the presence of mind to record all that happened using my phone camera.... </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
Our dinner before the whole incident did involve some alcohol...but the fact is that none of us were drunk..and taxi drivers refusing passengers is a <a href="http://www.thestatesman.net/news/10306-taxi-refusals-on-rise.html" target="_blank">prevalent</a> problem in Kolkata...and the cops know it..otherwise things could have been really ugly for all involved... </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
The money demanding cop in uniform himself was unable to flag down a cab for us once we left the station! He was successful only after standing in the middle of the road... As we learnt later, taxi drivers do have a right to refuse passengers at night... But asking for way more than double the normal fare is out of order..It seems city traffic police have/had formed a <a href="http://www.thestatesman.co.in/news/14692-Taxi-refusal-squads-back-on-streets-ahead-of-puja.html" target="_blank">Taxi Refusal Squad</a> during puja season.. well they were not present on Park Street by year end...</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
Onto other matters...while I've been through the 'I do's' and done with mine, earlier in December 2013, I flew up to the hills to ensure that my brother's marriage went smoothly... </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>

For those who can't read Mizo the sign says "*<i>Mizo people should strictly strictly get married in traditional Mizo dress</i>" ... My brother was in Western clothing. Had he been an actual Westerner it would've been OK..Thankfully, nothing untoward happened...and the marriage ceremony went peacefully.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
Mizo youth are highly influenced by Western, Korean and Japanese fashion these days which is affecting the local fashion market. I've been told even the chief minister of Mizoram has been criticized for wearing clothes and suits created by designers from mainland India.. </div>

<span style="text-align: left;">Anyway, as they say... all's well that ends well. I do miss the hills and hope to complete my house up there soon... but right now the hills in Far Cry 3 are calling me...Didn't really like the ending(s) but gonna playthrough again.... Maybe setting the difficulty level at the highest will result in being satisfied with the ending..<br /><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;">*Disclaimer: This an <i>unofficial</i> translation and may not be accurate.</span></span></div>

<b>Lord of the Flies</b> by William Golding is a book i've always wanted to read but have never read yet...<br />
This post is not about the book..apologies to any one who has landed here because of my blogpost title. <br />
<br />
Ever since Flickr announced there's 1 Terabyte of free space for all users i've been trying to make it a point to upload more frequently..Last Sunday afternoon was a memorable day since i finally shot some closeups of a butterfly, a dragonfly and a fly.. which i've never done before.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBdHzl86Zjz1LJllX1GeKOvHTCMEv8VCiPFXCGGH_Z55L8UwsgJc4Irl8DXgUoqdVpOcj7b4-hMXFr8rD2rU8QcMB2POyXUJm3iQxTvU-pNn-hHZKv0_YzHVjrQ7qehDWJ7p6qmWBvTwxM/s1600/blog_gif_butterfly.gif" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBdHzl86Zjz1LJllX1GeKOvHTCMEv8VCiPFXCGGH_Z55L8UwsgJc4Irl8DXgUoqdVpOcj7b4-hMXFr8rD2rU8QcMB2POyXUJm3iQxTvU-pNn-hHZKv0_YzHVjrQ7qehDWJ7p6qmWBvTwxM/s1600/blog_gif_butterfly.gif" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Feel rewarded for skipping my afternoon siesta and opting to go for a walk camera in hand.. I do not own a DSLR so capturing these insects with my point and shoot was a big win for me.. I say this because with zoom lens fitted on a good camera one can afford to stay far away from the subject / target... zoom in and get good shots..<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10153801665/" title="DragonFly by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="DragonFly" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5321/10153801665_686e5e46b3_z.jpg" width="640" /> </a><br />

<br />
<br />
Now... not that other types of photographers are any less.....with my recent experience i'm thinking..nature / <b>wildlife</b> photographers must be the most hardworking ones...For example..fashion photographers pretty much have good control.. their subjects..and other vital conditions...street photography ..even though one might not be able to control subjects still ample scope for getting <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/4469789680/in/photostream/lightbox/" target="_blank"><i>that</i></a> special shot which you might be satisfied with...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10153827233/" title="The Art of Gathering Nectar by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="The Art of Gathering Nectar" height="400" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3786/10153827233_5bb5d7c363_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10153594425/" title="Still Fly by blind dayze, on Flickr"></a></div>
<br />
Anyway from my small experience in capturing the butterfly and dragonfly.. i had to wait for them to land near me to get a good shot.. the kind of Macro shots i desired.... I'm sure..With a good lens i'd have captured more decent shots by staying a good five to six feet away from the plants they were landing on..<br />
<br />
The Eagles sang...<b>Learn to be Still</b>..also pretty much the lesson i learnt that day.... Now i'm sure you've seen other awesome shots of insect closeups..but my dragonfly experience was awesome.. i captured it having lunch!!..<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10153551144/" title="Eat Prey Love by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="Eat Prey Love" height="400" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3757/10153551144_7f60a07131_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I even had to time to shoot a small video..Video capturing with my camera is bad :( .....Was afraid the dragonfly would fly away so didn't go in closer plus the fact that i wanted to get some still shots resulted in the short clip.. Would've gone full on Nat Geo on this moment otherwise..<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/OK3IrJylI7U" width="640"></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
( Excuse me for the totally inappropriate audio background i've added for the video above...little snippet.. my friend Tone's guitar playing for a song from my upcoming album...)<b><br /><br />Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace... </b>my mantra for that day (also the name of a Foo Fighters album)..minus the echoes..with patience and a little grace to compose the shot.. the butterfly actually landed on my foot! As much as I'd like to display a photo with a Cobra coiled around my leg...this for now...<br />
<br />
<br />

So i was gonna title this blog post <b>Destination Anywhere</b> but all the Italian food i was eating made me change it to <b>Destination Set to Nowhere</b> - also the name of a concept album by <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2FwpBdbc2M" target="_blank">Italian band <b>Vision Divine</b></a>.<br />
<br />
Spent the last Sunday of September riding pillion on a <b><i>Bullet</i></b>....it was a divine experience..<br />
The day was supposed to involve a gang of friends but it was down to just two of us in the end. I'd even cancelled a request to preach at a church...don't know why our friends bailed out.. maybe it's the rising price of fuel?<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10020755584/" title="A Long Ride... by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="A Long Ride..." height="850" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7448/10020755584_98f3e8b408_o.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith and use up a lot of fuel</blockquote>
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
We decided to ride anyway..not that i feel old but this quote.. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10003499344/" title="Pick a Direction and Go by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="Pick a Direction and Go" height="850" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7405/10003499344_b0762ffcf5_o.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Young Riders Pick A Destination and Go...Old Riders Pick a Direction And Go</blockquote>
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
..pretty much sums up how we proceeded...no destination just a direction..Out of the city, on and on..straight road with no end and then Rajesh decided to go off the main road...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPZIb0uExWh2esr0HVphOyB1NHSzUe4Q4RSW7Kt922x7Ud6eHBwTdfeA68xiUNzolPSaxc_nRevcSCKxhIxE49jVK1OYj7KcbA7G4dgDfRKd60xYT2knJ4xNLZTQu6JYdrWw88WELcKoHC/s1600/wild+apes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPZIb0uExWh2esr0HVphOyB1NHSzUe4Q4RSW7Kt922x7Ud6eHBwTdfeA68xiUNzolPSaxc_nRevcSCKxhIxE49jVK1OYj7KcbA7G4dgDfRKd60xYT2knJ4xNLZTQu6JYdrWw88WELcKoHC/s1600/wild+apes.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
We were attacked by two wild apes... i believe they had shape shifting powers too..However, since it was a Sunday they decided not to eat us.. well as you can see not true but we went a little crazy in the forest..maybe it was the deafening silence..or us feeling right at home in the trees....Finally we made our way out of the grove.. and back to a road.... welcomed by a herd of cows...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10004450986/" title="BBC - Bullet + bulls + cows by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="BBC - Bullet + bulls + cows" height="389" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3698/10004450986_d3c8220117_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10016403664/" title="Two Wheels Move The Soul by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="Two Wheels Move The Soul" height="850" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3781/10016403664_a55e205494_o.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Four wheels moved the body. Two wheels move the Soul.</blockquote>
</div>
<br />
Soul happy; but stomach was empty...We decided it was high time we lunched.... so after getting back onto the main highway.. we rode on in search of a decent <i>dhaba</i>...And find one we did!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10002890253/" title="BCC - Beer, Chicken & Cucumber by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="BCC - Beer, Chicken & Cucumber" height="384" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5484/10002890253_258d4dbc14_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
...and not disappointed with the food...plus drink..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
of course we did not get drunk. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10012093374/" title="a little Blue & more of Bubbles by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="a little Blue & more of Bubbles" height="850" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2868/10012093374_14e59de598_o.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Truth be told we basically rode more than 60 kilometeres out of the city just to have lunch at this super dhaba....After the meal...we both agreed that our mission for the day was accomplished and decided to head back home....on the way we stopped for a while near a lake...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10012798565/" title="First come First Fish basis by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="First come First Fish basis" height="850" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7396/10012798565_d545a8ce4d_o.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
We were lucky enough to catch some fishermen who'd just come in with their fresh catch...Out of the water..into the weighing balance..into our hands..Rajesh decided to take one home...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinddayze/10012792455/" title="Out of Water Into Weighing by blind dayze, on Flickr"><img alt="Out of Water Into Weighing" height="850" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3807/10012792455_66373ff191_o.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>

To all our friends who couldn't make it... hope you are present next time around..<br />
<br />
The motorbike ride reminded me of childhood days..riding BMX cycles with friends..just enjoying the ride..no destination as such..even then, i remember we used to go for long rides down winding roads...<br />
<br />
Anyone up for a cross country ride let me know...on Cycle..i'm ready to get the proper ride..<br />
...right now it's pretty much city exploration with my Toxin FireFox..<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Sunday, 3:00 in the AM, watched <i><b><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_City_(film)" target="_blank">Sound City</a></b></i>. A film directed by Mr. Dave Grohl. I'd given a listen to all the songs in <b><i>Real to Reel</i></b> the soundtrack to<i><b> Sound City</b></i> before. I liked the songs but after watching the documentary i'm spinning the whole album again..love them now!.... well there's nothing spinning...just my CPU processing compressed bytes of audio data with the help of an application meant to play mp3 audio format.<br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: x-small;"><b>live tracking .... Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Sound City back in the day...</b></span><br />
<br />
Recording was analog, organic.. hi fidelity gear involved.. these days you got a laptop and a couple of audio apps and you can go ahead... At the most, the only piece of extra hardware you'd need would be a sound card for your computer..<br />
<br />
..or you could use a portable recorder like the <a href="http://blinddayze.blogspot.in/2013/02/ready-for-afterlife.html" target="_blank">H1 and record</a>...<i>Embedded</i> below.. the result of my efforts yesterday.. a <i>demo</i> track for my upcoming album.. I've succeeded in recording a 6:00 minute <i>pop</i> song! Reminds me of the time i met a "musician" who believed if you had "long song" it was progressive..!! <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_Theater" target="_blank">Dream Theater</a> aspirations....<br />

<br />
I'm no Dylan ... far from a Leonard Cohen ...but i hope the good folks at <a href="https://soundcloud.com/orange-byte-studios" target="_blank">Orange Byte Studios</a> with whom i've made a <i>deal</i> with will help in the future when a proper recording is done..and make at least the music listenable.. or maybe i could go raw.. real to reel <a href="http://blinddayze.blogspot.in/2013/02/bedroom-fever.html" target="_blank">with the help of friends</a>..<br />
<br />
I've been planning to get a music album out since forever.. just want to beat Axl Rose' record ..time he took in releasing <a href="http://www.time.com/time/interactive/0,31813,1861411,00.html" target="_blank">Chinese Democracy</a> ... like what.. 6 years <b>+</b>? in-spite of all the financial resource and musical talent he must've had...<br />
<br />
Anyway.. These days...either listen to digitally polished pristine recordings of sh!T or try to be selective and curate your playlist .....or you could <i>Play safe</i>.. and listen to <i>classic</i> songs... or....listen to albums that were <a href="http://soundcitystudios.net/recordings-by-year" target="_blank">recorded at Sound City</a> studios... by artists like Neil Young .. Nirvana..Tom Petty...Rage Against The Machine..Fleetwood Mac..<br />

<i>Sometimes life makes decisions for you</i>... i heard someone say.. on the TV. Don't remember which show it was.. but definitely was sitting on the Comedy Central channel. ..And i guess it's happening to me.. not much of the comedy part....but decisions.. or <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC0UIa3t0sg&list=PL017FD8FEBA3ED34F"><i>maybe the devil knows my name</i>..</a><br />
<br />
Rain finally down from the sky which has been great...not So great.. Black Sabbath's 2013 offering... <i>13</i>. To be honest with Tony and co. .. am yet to give <i>13</i> a proper listen except for the <i>God is Dead?</i> track which has been out on the internets for awhile...<br />
<br />
Brad Wilk' on drums in place of Bill Ward.. Sure is sad that Bill isn't playing.. It's kind of strange that Black Sabbath chose Brad Wilk (RATM / Audioslave) of all the drummers in the world..I'm thinking it's gotta to do with Brad's connection to the number <i>3</i> .. Cause this is what i found on his wiki..<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Wilk has mentioned a weird connection to the number three throughout his
life, and little "3"'s are plastered all over his drumkit, and as well
as in the liner notes for Rage Against the Machine's third album, <i>The Battle of Los Angeles</i>. In an interview with Modern Drummer
Wilk said "Ever since I was eight or nine I've gravitated to the number
three. It's something that has always been a really heavy number for
me. It's tattooed on my arm, and I count in threes. Everyone in school
was taught two, four, six, eight, ten- I'd count in threes in the way
I'd walk, even in the decisions I'd make. It was all based on threes,"
and also incorporates 3 into his playing.</blockquote>

Anyways.. if a trio of 60 year olds can still churn out heavy heavy.. i've got hope. Just need more fine tuning .. same goes for my calligraphy..<br />
<br />
Flickr's had some tuning and they're offering 1 TB space for your photography .... my Flickr storage status... <b><i><br />You have used < 1% of your 1 TB</i></b> ...lot more bytes free. So here's some new uploads of old photos..<br />

Been awhile since i updated this blog of mine... the wonderful summer sun has been burning hot and bright without fail. Definitely worth adding in my resume - <i>Can work in hell like conditions</i>. Or maybe hell has frozen over? The Eagles said so back in 1994. Recently watched the two part documentary <i>History of the Eagles</i> (2013) ... much renewed respect for the band..<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>the Eagles line up before Timothy was in</b></span>...</div>

<br />
Queen and the Eagles are right on top for me - vocals (harmonies) and song writing.. In both bands, members can (could) really sing..and compose. Yes, i know the <i>fab four</i> but i guess it was more of a Lennon McCartney thing.. In the Eagles, Glen and Don H never let Don F sing lead.. and in Queen, John Deacon was the shy guy .... but both have one thing in common sort of.. For the Eagles it was Don Felder' guitar tapes that led to <i>Hotel California.. </i>i'm sure it's the most well known Eagles song... For Queen it was John Deacon' bass line that led to <i>Another One Bites the Dust</i> -- (Queen's best selling single) ....So, what's the lesson? ..Ans: <i>everyone has a purpose</i>...<br />
<br />
....while reading some UI/UX related articles i landed on <i>lawsofsimplicity.com</i> .. clicked on a post titled <a href="http://lawsofsimplicity.com/2007/11/01/the-purpose-of-human-life/"><i>The Purpose of Human Life </i></a>which led to me creating the typographic below... (crafted in Ai)<br />

Me did some <strike>research</strike> <b><i>Google-ing</i></b> but couldn't find the right person to attribute for the last quote..both H.L. Mencken (Journalist, satirist, critic) and Evan Esar (humorist) show up... anyone out there knows?</div>

Back to Purpose... i think my purpose in life is to become an <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Illustrator"><i>Adobe Illustrator</i></a> Evangelist... <br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Google rejected it..had they used my concept i'm sure it would've been a great evil success... they didn't and now we have the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ak2Kc_KO_3A">folks at SNL making fun of Google Glass..</a> Watch it for laughs.</div>
..got time? Do <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyI8rP6XtX8">listen to this scathing commentary</a>..cybernetic slavery device it is (will be?)..<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
talking of glass here's a nice quotation related to glass..</div>

My first upload on Youtube featuring meself.. my rendition of the <b>Switchfoot</b> song - <i>Afterlife</i>...these days i've been thinking hard about the afterlife... well in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borderlands_2" target="_blank">Borderlands</a> as long as one's got ca$h re-generation is easy.. but in this world? ...<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
The above Youtube audio is straight from the<b> H1 </b>no effects added .... the audio only version below, i've given a pinch of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverberation" target="_blank">reverb</a>..in my favourite free audio editing software - Audacity..<br />
<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F79817787&color=000000&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
(..and my band' name is Abigails Algorhythm... i'm waiting for my daughter to learn the piano..)<br />
<br />
...I'm not quite ready for the afterlife but with my <a href="http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h1/" target="_blank">H1 Handy Recorder</a> in hand im ready to record my song ideas more often.. i've had it for almost 2 years!!!... but it wasn't until last month that i finally got it out and started using it.. what can i say ..was in a daze..<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYXnVryxckqq2bBWgz6h9KOSdHi0uw0hm8IY1zhRNDzxqXbZ2N-3FViaFMseyT9vJMURWUAqrAa3GPcMYEatR5Uy2Tm19etzcZh70n-sNdVrnmmhOBu3mNVSKyrulToi-EZnpceWo_EcEo/s1600/h1_12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYXnVryxckqq2bBWgz6h9KOSdHi0uw0hm8IY1zhRNDzxqXbZ2N-3FViaFMseyT9vJMURWUAqrAa3GPcMYEatR5Uy2Tm19etzcZh70n-sNdVrnmmhOBu3mNVSKyrulToi-EZnpceWo_EcEo/s1600/h1_12.jpg" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
As the name suggests it's pretty handy for recording stuff.. song ideas.. even live performances..just mount it on a tripod.. record with your DSLR / point and shoot cam ..whatever you got and replace the cam audio with the H1 recording.. It was my good friend Peter who first introduced me to the H1 and i'm ever grateful to him.. just for this act itself he deserves a sainthood.. No more recording using my old <a href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2752/4419535096_65ef400dc3_o.jpg">T.Sonic</a><br />

Well, for the past couple of weeks i've been cooped up in our guest bedroom trying to make some music..and playing <a href="http://www.borderlands2.com/" target="_blank">Borderlands2</a>..<br />
<br />
My two friends from the east came to visit the last month. Below is an epic video i made featuring the two of them...well more of a brief documentation..<br />
<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lqr39tfPyrE" width="560"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
They had to cut their trip short due to unavoidable reasons... guess they were getting cabin fever of some sort..well in our case bedroom fever.. so they begged me to set them free.. { i locked them in most of the time and fed them with the kind of supplements only used by the U.S. army back during their days in Vietnam }<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Anyways ... as for me i'm pretty much addicted to Borderlands 2 but hopefully some coherent music should be up on this blog sometime soon..or maybe tips on how to play Borderlands 2..<br />

<li>wake up early --- {Rob Zombie wakes up round 5:00am everyday..while on tour 7:00am - guitarist John5 can affirm}<br /></li>
<li>improve my guitar playing {as in learn more chords-- trying to write songs with my three chord knowledge ain't much fun unless one's aiming for nursery rhymes}<br /></li>
<li>improve eating habits---{as in not skipping breakfast}<br /></li>
<li>use as much freeware as possible on my personal computer --{don't want to be standing at the gates of heaven only to be sent down to hell for excessive use of pirated software}<br /></li>
<li>learn how to play piano --{or at least help my daughter in this endeavour}<br /></li>
<li>earn a lot of money this year to buy all the software that i love<br /></li>
<li>improve my drawing skills<br /></li>
<li>perform with my band at a venue which will offer us unlimited quality beer<br /></li>
<li>form a band<br /></li>
<li>join a band<br /></li>
<li>play more computer games --{ well i just got myself a new <i>high endish</i> machine so there} </li>
</ol>
<div>
Anways i've strayed away from my initial thoughts for this post.. threesome.. i guess a three piece band is all you need if you've got the skills and chemistry..</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Lately have been listening to a lot of Rush after i <i>re-watched</i> a documentary - <b>Rush Beyond The Lighted Stage</b> (2010) the whole film is actually<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENpvQAUw3IA" target="_blank"> up on Youtube</a> now.. subjective but i'd say without hesitation the best three piece band still playing today..genre no bar..Amazing musicians!!<br />
<br />

<br />
A week ago watched a John Mayer concert film <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_the_Light_Is" target="_blank"><b>Where The Light Is </b>(2007)</a>. mid segment featured the trio - Mayer himself with Steve Jordan (drums, backing vocals) and Pino Palladino (bass)..great set it was.. i know it's old now.. but i'd never seen it before - and John Mayer in his three <i>personalities ....</i> he <i>opened for himself</i> on acoustic guitar... mid set - the trio and final act with his <i>normal </i>band..<br />
<br />
Hopefully in three days, two of my musician friends from east India will set foot at my place in my bid to get us in writing a song or two and get a hit like Psy with his Gangnam Style..<br />
<br />
Shall end this post with a John5 flamenco inspired tune.. beautiful it is..<br />
<br />

<br />
just so you know the music video also has a 3D version..<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I <i>imagine</i> John Lennon reading the book...going back and writing Imagine II</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
interestingly this is what Lennon meant when he wrote "...and no religion too"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
It is the concept of positive prayer ... If you can imagine a world at peace, with no denominations of religion—<b>not without religion</b> but without this-my-God-is-bigger-than-your-God thing—then it can be true ... The World Church called me once and asked, "Can we use the lyrics to 'Imagine' and just change it to 'Imagine one religion'? That showed [me] they didn't understand it at all. It would defeat the whole purpose of the song, the whole idea."</blockquote>
<div style="text-align: center;">
source: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imagine_(song)" style="text-align: left;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imagine_(song)</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
So Lennon wasn't against religion..<br />
while Dietrich Bonhoeffer says..'In a very real sense he came to destroy religion' .. <br />'He' who?... read below<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The earliest Christians had no churches.... no priests....the Romans called them 'atheists'..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well.. Norwegian black metal bands burning down churches? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Maybe their actions have been taken in the wrong.... light by the.... church...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
..I shall end today's <strike>sermon</strike> post by choosing <strike>hymn number </strike><span style="text-align: left;">track #1 - Building the Church<br />..from the aptly titled album..if i may say so.... Real Illusions: Reflections..</span></div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Next up the <b>really awesome </b> {without sarcasm} duo... <b>Pomplamoose ... </b> multi-instrumentalists they are.. again..watch them sing and play..</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="246" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FlDGFrP4NgI" width="437"></iframe></span></div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Last but not the least.. <b>Imogen Heap... </b>she's solo here but i remember this song</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">from her Frou Frou album with Guy Sigsworth...and i prefer the album version..</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here in India if you do watch T.V. programmes and Star World in particular.. you'd have seen her performing with the now really fat Vishal Dadlani {of Pentagram fame} in a programme called the <a href="http://www.starworld.in/show/the-dewarists/about_170.aspx">The Dewarists</a></span><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></b><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="246" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fDiCr7BNVY4" width="437"></iframe>
</span></div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Assuming Vishal Dadlani is real fat cause he's made it big in Bollywood as a music composer / producer.. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If you know a little bit of the <i><b>Indian English music scene</b></i> you'll know who he is..or rather was..as vocalist in the band Pentagram....</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Since i've come to <i style="font-weight: bold;">Indian English music scene .. </i>or whatever you want to call it.. do download <b>Indiean Vol. II .. it's free</b>.. <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?6eiw246i7a4x0a6" target="blank">Click Here</a>..</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> <a href="http://blinddayze.blogspot.com/2010/08/independent-indians.html" target="blank">i'd blogged about <b>Vol. I</b> last year</a> but this year was asleep on release date..</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Since i've also mentioned Bollywood i have to admit that i really enjoyed watching <b><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaitan_(film)" target="blank">Shaitan</a>. </b>Hearing this woman -Suman Shridhar sing Khoya Khoya Chand led me to watching the film.. If the late Amy Winehouse sang in Hindi i'd imagine she'd sound like this.. the song is actually a remix of an old Hindi classic... Hear it is..</span><br />

Back into Blogger after a long time... Had <i>somethings</i> in mind to write down but hey this new back-end User interface has totally taken me by surprise!!! Knew Google was doing some face-lifts to it's UI all around but didnt' expect this much in the <i>new</i> Blogger. Anyways guess it's all for good.... like the changes that i've been through in the recent past..<br />

</ul>
and so much more significant happenings and insignificant things have taken place.. <br />
Well, i didnt get lost in BOMBay but my folks did believe so..but i'll leave this for another post..<br />
<br />
The city of Kolkata and it's people were good to me but now Nagpur is already doing it's best to to keep me rooted here or should i say.. i'm doing everything i can to get the best out of this new place im living in..Well, 15th August ...already 12:00 AM as i write these words..so hey gotta get some shut eye ...up early morrow morning and try to be in a <i>patriotic mood....</i><br />

<blockquote><b>sojourner</b>: noun - a temporary resident {A <b>sojourner</b> is a person who resides temporarily in a place.}<br />
<a href="http://bible.cc/1_chronicles/29-15.htm">1 Chronicles 29:15</a>For we [are] strangers before thee, and <b>sojourners</b>, as [were] all our fathers: our days on the earth [are] as a shadow, and [there is] none abiding.</blockquote><br />
A sojourner i am. We all are. Aren't we? <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Jtpf8N5IDE" target="blank">Who wants to live forever?</a> .... Well before i begin to sound too serious and start writing about life after death or repeat the word sojourner a hundred times...let me talk about food.<br />
<br />
So it happens that because of certain circumstances which have presented themselves in such a manner that things couldn't be otherwise soon i'll be leaving the city of Kolkata...<i>Ta-ta</i> to Kolkata - the city in which i've enjoyed, relished and eaten many fish of different varieties.<br />
<br />
If i were to make an <i>abridged</i> visual representing the major places i've lived in it would be as follows..<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fc/Porky_pig.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fc/Porky_pig.jpg" width="156" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Porky Pig</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.englishexercises.org/makeagame/my_documents/my_pictures/2009/jul/1FF_nemo_clownfish_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="100" src="http://www.englishexercises.org/makeagame/my_documents/my_pictures/2009/jul/1FF_nemo_clownfish_1.jpg" width="100" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Nemo</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;">Now if all pigs looked and behaved like Porky Pig and all the fish like little Nemo i'd never eat them.. Back in Mizoram the numero uno dish i guess is still pork.. and in West Bengal it's fish.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Am now moving to a place know for it's oranges.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f9/Orange_and_cross_section.jpg/120px-Orange_and_cross_section.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f9/Orange_and_cross_section.jpg/120px-Orange_and_cross_section.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">How boring.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Anyways a sojourner i am so i shall move on and <strike>eat</strike> see what's in store for me. Just as i was getting really comfortable living in the city of Kolkata devouring fishes ... them oranges come calling to me. During my earlier days we shifted around a couple of times .. it was in/around Aizawl so at least the pork was always there. Oh well three years i'd spent in Bangalore...now Bengaluru .. Hmmm what is the no.1 dish down there? Wasn't really into the local food tasting scene then....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

It's Jesus' birthday.. so happy birthday .. happy Christmas... So anyways <b>Merry New Year</b> to all ye who have landed on this blog....don't know why but i associate merry making with drinking..<b>Santa Flaws</b> would agree..No, <i>we're</i> not suggesting drinking all year through...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/365/7/e/santa_flaws_greetings_by_blinddayze-d363sj7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/365/7/e/santa_flaws_greetings_by_blinddayze-d363sj7.jpg" width="445" /></a></div><br />
My daughter is afraid of <b>Santa Claus</b> though. True. Because of this she' has missed getting <i>gifts</i> a few times on get togethers where at the end of the programmes a man dressed as Santa Claus comes around and hands over some things to children...Her first introduction to Santa was when she was given a Santa Clause <i>doll </i>when she was around a year old. Bad toy character design i guess.<br />
<br />
My mother also is not a big fan of X-Mas greeting cards with Santa Claus related imagery. She prefers ones with the <b>Nativity</b> scenes. I hated distributing cards around our locality when i was a kid cause my mother dedicatedly sent out cards to almost the whole locality wherever we lived...<br />
<br />
Enough of my anti-Claus message. It's 1.1.11 and just felt the need to post something on this date.<br />

It was not very adventurous as my blog title might suggest. I did travel recently to the city of Nagpur helping my folks shift base over there and Nagpur happens to lie at the geographical centre of India. Theres a <i>Zero Mile Marker</i> to indicate this point.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="350" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="http://maps.google.co.in/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&q=zero+mile+nagpur+india+google+maps&fb=1&gl=in&hq=zero+mile&hnear=Nagpur,+Maharashtra&cid=0,0,14364234915728487120&source=embed&ll=39.504041,85.957031&spn=46.531175,74.707031&z=3&iwloc=A&output=embed" width="425"></iframe><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I barely went in to explore the city as i was trying to make myself useful in helping to settle things down in the new quarter so no photos of the place to upload this time around.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The train journey from Kolkata to Nagpur was an experience to remember. Travelling with 32 pieces of luggage is not very pleasant. Much thanks to the two <i>coolies</i> {luggage porters} whom we hired to carry our things and also shove in what seemed like a hundered pieces of bags and suitcases into every available space around us in our train compartment. A few days back i had sent the major bulk of our household items by truck to nagpur and i wished we had all travelled in that same truck which was pretty spacious. Anways we made it through. </span><br />

The only one i took while in Nagpur. She's wearing a Ji-Sung Park t-shirt. He scored the only goal in Man Utd.' recent match <i>vs</i> Arsenal. Park plays for Manchester United. This train was supposed to reach at five in the morning which would have allowed me to get back to office on time but no chance.
